The Numbers That Scream for a New Renaissance

The evidence is brutal: deep technologies, the engines of our future, are trapped in bottlenecks of bureaucracy, outdated systems, and cowardly capital. These numbers aren’t abstract. They show exactly why we need a cultural and structural revolution in how humanity treats innovation.

Building the New Renaissance

In 1296, Arnolfo di Cambio laid the first stone of Florence's Duomo without knowing how to build the dome. For 124 years, the cathedral stood open to the sky—a gaping architectural wound that seemed impossible to heal. Engineers from across Europe declared it couldn't be done. The span was too wide, the height too great, the physics insurmountable.

Kary Mullis Was Right

The peer review system, elevated to scientific orthodoxy around 1973, has fundamentally transformed how scientific knowledge is validated and communicated. Research shows that papers and patents are becoming increasingly less disruptive over time, with research productivity declining by 5.3% annually since the 1970s

Where Others See Nothing, We See Everything.

The best technologies aren’t in patent databases or university press releases.

They’re in garage workshops, forgotten research papers, and minds of inventors told their ideas are “too risky.”

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

Leaving the door open to wonder is the foundation of discovery.

Fukuyama’s “end of history” narrative has cast its shadow over science too.
